Building and creating things started at a young age. Traditional woodworking began after taking shop class in high school. I fell in love with the hobby and started a dedicated woodshop on the family farm. Woodworking took a back seat as I pursued a mechanical engineering degree at UK leading to a 16 year engineering career. Free time on nights and weekends was spent building and developing skills while I was working during the day.  In 2021, it was time for a change to focus on my woodworking passion full-time and started JL Woodworks.

When I’m not woodworking, you can find me traveling, hiking, going on off-road motorcycle adventures, or spending time with our miniature poodles.
